What Does a Real Estate Relationship Mean to Scott?
With all that is happening in the world, I am feeling a bit unsure of what the future holds and I’m sure many of you have felt the same as I have since this pandemic started. But when I wake up each day I think about what I have around me and I feel grateful and hope that you are able to do the same.
The hardest change for me since mid-March has been the shifting nature of my relationships with clients. Five years ago I worked hard to create a motto that suits me in terms of the way I feel about my clients and my real estate practice. I ultimately decided that “Deep personal relationships still matter”. Having been in the business for more than 40 years, I’ve had to adapt to many things in our modern world and the way in which technology is used to sell homes. What hasn’t changed is my desire to help people through what is often an emotional time in their lives and building close relationships with my clients is what allows me to do that.
What the last several months have taught me is that we are lucky to have such powerful technologies to support our industry and our clients. Tracy O’Connell from my team patiently walks our clients through the new ways in which we sell homes — engaging, teaching, and supporting our clients with less familiarity with the new methods for selling their home. Simply put, we love what we do.
While it’s incredible to have these tools available, I miss the frequent face-to-face meetings and smiles at the settlement table. I took for granted what an opportunity it was to put my arms around happy sellers and buyers. Some clients have recently sent me pictures, which has brightened my spirits. For now I continue to hold fond memories of being able to stand next to you on your big day and I look forward to continuing to see your photos.
